FISH AND WILDLIFE

CAREER DEVELOPMENT EVENT

Overview

This CDE consists of the identification of twelve specimens in each of four groups: insects, birds, mammals, and fish.  There is also a written test of 15 questions on each of the four groups and a team activity. Students advance to the National competition in the Environment and Natural Resources CDE.

Expectations at Convention for Fish and Wildlife
  • Official Dress is required

  • The event will occur in two flights. Be sure to attend the correct flight and know what region your chapter is in (any deviation from assigned flights must be approved by the CDE State Coordinator and CDE teacher chair 7 days prior to the convention)

  • Use the 3-digit number for all specimens and be familiar with the scantron

What SHOULD students bring? (Tools/equipment/materials)
  • Two pencils

 
What can students NOT BRING for themselves? 
  • Any paper materials

 

What will get a student/team disqualified? 
  • Using cell phones and/or smart watches during the event

  • Sharing answers with other participants

  • Talking to other participants during the event

 

What will be provided by the event?
  • Clipboards

  • Scantron sheet

  • Identification specimen

  • Specimen lists

  • Written test
